Home to the highest peak south of the Scottish border, Gwynedd and Snowdonia National Park offer a paradise for walkers and ramblers. Mount Snowdon is well worth the effort (or for an easy ascent try the railway!) and the views from the top - on a clear day - are absolutely stunning.

Its not all just about mountains though - this part of Wales has some wonderful beaches and coastal towns offering many activities and interesting places to visit. There are historic castles, museums, narrow gauge railways, rivers, lakes and forests with their associated sporting activities, family attractions and visitor centres.

The Llyn Peninsula with its dramatic coastline, sandy beaches and remote villages is full of real Welsh atmosphere - whatever the weather the area is well worth a visit.

For a major look back in time - go to Caernarfon - where you can discover the ruins of the Roman fort known as Segontium or explore the magnificent  Caernarfon Castle surrounded by 13th century town walls (host to many exhibitions including the new Royal Welch Fusiliers museum). And if you like castles then visit the Tudor Gwydir Castle, in Llanrwst or Dolbadarn Castle, a tall round keep overlooking Lake Padarn in Llanberis.

For more historical attractions and for good shopping facilities, take a trip to the cathedral city of Bangor on the Menai Straits overlooking Anglesey. It has a Victorian pier, museum and art gallery, shopping centre and a good choice of restaurants, pubs and cafes.

Whatever your style of holiday you will be certain to have plenty to see and do. For Gwynedd holiday cottages, hotels and guesthouses, campsites and holiday parks or town and city accommodation, click one of the buttons above.
