Property Description

Use of following Facilities

Upper Haroldston is an extensive, typically Welsh Farmhouse, designed to comfortably accommodate 12 people.

The house is set in beautiful open countryside, with views over the Preseli Mountains, yet is close to the amenities of Haverfordwest.

It has a large traditional kitchen, with a table big enough to seat everyone.   The kitchen is well equipped, with large refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and gas cooker with double oven.

The utility room houses the washing machine, tumble drier, ironing facilities and freezer.

There are 2 sitting rooms, both comfortably furnished with leather suites. One is equipped with television, DVD and video, whilst the other has a hi-fi system, complete with CD and tape player.

The games room also has a TV and portable radio/CD player plus a dartboard and a proper bar pool table.   There are various other pass-times , such as jigsaws, Monopoly, Cluedo, children’s toys etc.

The 6 bedrooms consist of 2 doubles with King-sized beds, 2 twins, 1 single and 1 room with 3 singles. If the house is required by 6 couples, the single room can easily be converted to a twin (advanced notice would be appreciated). One of the twins has an adjacent bathroom, with bath & shower, and is situated on the ground floor, so is ideal for people who have difficulty with stairs.

There are 2 further bathrooms upstairs, one with a shower and one with a bath. Both have WCs.

All rooms are centrally heated.   We supply all bed-linen and towels, with regular changes.  Heating, gas and electricity is included.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement.

The Farmhouse has a private and secure garden, equipped with barbecue  and children’s swing. There is ample car parking space within the courtyard.

Location and Local Amenities

Haverfordwest is a bustling market town, ideally situated at the centre of Pembrokeshire’s road network.    This means that all of the county’s main attractions are no more than a short drive away.

Its most attractive pedestrianised shopping centre, straddles the pretty Cleddau river.   Much of the precinct is under cover so is ideal for occupying a wet afternoon.

The retail park contains a number of large national shops, such as Safeway, Currys, Comet, Focus Do-It-All and Halfords.   The new Tesco hyper-market opened in April 2000.   A farmers’ market is held in the High Street, on alternate Fridays, throughout the season.

The centre piece of Haverfordwest is the castle which was first established in the early 12th century.   This is surrounded by quaint mediaeval  streets, although most of the building facades date from a later era.

For the fitness enthusiast, the town has a swimming pool and well-equipped leisure centre, ideal for a vigorous workout or game of squash.   The centre specialises in running holiday courses for youngsters.

For those who prefer gentler exercise, access to beautiful and extensive riverside walks is only half a mile from Haroldston.   The Western Cleddau section of the National Coastal Park is within walking distance at Little Milford.

Pembrokeshire must surely be one of the most beautiful and varied counties in Britain.   The coastline is rugged and imposing and is accessible along almost its whole length via the 187 mile long coastal path.

There are numerous beautiful sandy beaches, many of which remain peaceful, even in high season.

Marloes Sands is totally unspoilt and must be one of the loveliest anywhere, yet is only 12 miles from Haroldston.

The coast is dotted with havens of all kinds, from the picturesque  little harbour at Solva to the busy industrial  port  at Milford Haven.

Regular  ferries to Ireland are available at Fishguard and Pembroke Dock.  The crossing to Rosslare is inexpensive and takes only 4 hours, so a day trip is both practical and economical.   For the bird-watching fraternity, regular boat trips are available to Pembrokeshire’s numerous island reserves, most notably, Skomer, Skokholm, Ramsey and Caldey.

The county also has the only coastal national park in the UK.   For more information, please also see RSPB home page and Wildlife West Wales.

Turning inland, the Preseli Hills contains a feast of  beauty spots and wide vistas, from sweeping moorlands, to exquisite valleys; from mysterious forests to sparkling lakes.   Even here, there is plenty for the historian.   The stone circle, at Pentre Ifan, is constructed from the same locally quarried stone as is Stonehenge.
