Property Description and Facilities

Set in the hopfields of historic Herefordshire, the carefully restored Hopton Arms combines authentic Victorian charm with the best modern facilities.

Owner, Peter Groutage, undertook an ambitious programme of restoration to bring back the Victorian character of the building.

Fireplaces, heavy oak doors, original paintings, wooden panelling, rich heritage colours and William Morris style fabrics complete the look.

There are five bedrooms in the former coach house, four in the main Inn, and two newly built 'disabled-friendly' rooms adjoining the courtyard. All have en-suite facilities and most have views of the surrounding countryside.

A log chalet has recently been completed in the grounds and furnished to a very high standard. This is available for those who prefer self-catering.

In our attractive but small restaurant our Chef serves tasty traditional English country cooking - much of it made from ingredients sourced locally, many of them organic. A full English breakfast is served here to overnight guests and a carvery is on offer every Sunday.

For those who would prefer to eat by the roaring log fire or outdoors in Summer we serve bar meals and snacks.

The Hopton now holds a '3 Diamonds' rating by the English Tourism Council.

Location and Local Amenities

The Hopton is set in two and a half acres of grounds surrounded by rolling countryside, where occasionally members of the sealed Knot can be seen re-enacting a battle.

The historic 'Black & White' market town of Ledbury is just a short drive away. The High Street is full of antique specialists, tasteful interior design shops, pubs, tea shops and the renowned Ceci Paolo cookshop and cafe.

The Hopton is also a great touring base for those who want to explore the cathedral towns of Hereford, Worcester, and Gloucester, the famous Black& White villages of Herefordshire or to visit historic Eastnor Castle, the Cheltenham Races or the Hay on Wye Book Festival.

Walkers and nature lovers will enjoy the nearby Malvern Hills where Elgar and Vaughan Williams were inspired to write some of our finest pastoral music.

A little further afield is the Forest of Dean, Wye Valley and Brecon Beacons -offering stunning views, historic houses and quaint villages.
Not far away is the well known Three Choirs Vineyard where you can take a wine tasting tour.

Cycle hire, horse-riding, fishing facilities, a swimming pool, cookery courses and museums are all available in Ledbury
