Awliscombe is just two miles from Honiton. There are two good pubs which serve excellent food within a short distance from the farm. The market town of Honiton is the foremose antique centre in Devon and has long been known for its lace and pottery. There are many interesting shops to browse around. It has a twice weekly street market. Plenty of places to eat and take aways. There are numerous beautiful villages some thatched such as Broadhembury, Gittisham, Branscombe. Beautiful countryside.

There are many delightful coastal resorts within easy driving distance. Such as the Regency town of Sidmouth with its attractive promenade famous for its Folk Festival in August. Branscombe, Beer a quaint fishing village with caves. Budleigh Salterton, Exmouth and Lyme Regis the start of the Jurassic Coast. Some beaches are sandy and very safe for children. Inland towns include Axminster famous for Carpets, Colyton and Ottery St Mary renowned for flaming tar barrels on Bonfire night. Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks, Torquay and the Historic City of Exeter with its fine Cathedral and excellent shops. |
