Property Description and Facilities

Laurel Bank B & B is a charming Victorian guest house recently awarded a 4 diamond rating with the ETC Visit Britain Quality in Tourism Authority. Conveniently close to Keswick town centre and the historic Castlerigg Stone Circle it offers first class facilities without the heavy price tag!

It is a non-smoking bed & breakfast throughout for your comfort and is open all year round. Breakfasts from the buffet include cereals, fruit juices, fresh fruit salad, yoghurts and cheeses with home-made chutney. Hot breakfasts from the kitchen are cooked to order by Margaret Roper, the resident proprietor/chef and delivered to your table by her husband Rodney who is a keen walker and always happy to help with walking routes or motoring advice for the less active.

Two cosy standard double rooms overlook the colourful wooded hills of Latrigg. The two larger ones are available as superior double/twin or family occupation and have stunning views over Keswick towards Grisedale Pike. There is a large rear private Car Park and secure cycle storage if needed.

An ideal venue for touring the lovely English Lake District and well worth a visit for more than one night!

Location and Local Amenities

Castlerigg Stone Circle is probably one of the best known and prettiest stone circles in the world and is a stones throw from Laurel Bank B & B.

For the nature lovers a visit to Dodd Wood and the Lake District Osprey Project is a must!

How about a Brewery Tour at Jennings Brewery Cockermouth or a visit to the Sellafield visitors centre.

The jewel in the crown of course is Lake Derwentwater with its wonderful surrounding hills and moutains where the air and the walking are free!

Laurel Bank B & B is situated on an elevated site close to the historic Castlerigg Stone Circle and Keswick town centre. Walking to the centre is a joy along the scenic Keswick old railway footpath and this route takes in panoramic views of Grisedale Pike and Latrigg or you can spend a tranquil moment on the footbridge over the river Greta.

For the less active the bus stop is almost on the door step with connections to Penrith railway station, Keswick bus station, Cockermouth, Workington and Winderemere.

Keswick is bursting with places to eat with a wide variety of cuisine served in the pubs and restaurants. For the shopaholic there are numerous gift and craft shops and even more moutaineering and camping outlets. You can treat yourself to a new pair of walking boots!

Activities include walking, climbing, swimming, golf, and tennis with regular cricket, bowls rugby or football matches for the spectator.

Cruise on Lake Derwentwater with the Keswick Launch Company or spend an evening at the Theatre by the Lake. A trip to the cinema is always a good idea for the kids and there is a playground and crazy golf on offer too.
