Property Description and Facilities

A warm welcome awaits you at our beautifully renovated 17th Century Lakeland farmhouse. We are VisitBritain graded 4 diamond and our disabled room is graded Mobility 1.

The farm is set on the slopes of Blencathra, 10 minutes from Keswick, with wonderful southerly views. 

All bedrooms are en-suite (three ground floor) have colour television, tea/coffee making facilities, fridges. The guests’ beamed sitting room has a wood-burning stove and a full choice breakfast, traditional and vegetarian, is served in the attractively decorated dining room. Ample parking space and pretty gardens, a lovely base for walking or touring.

Location and Local Amenities

The Hamlet of Scales is situated midway between  Ullswater and Derwentwater on the A66, two miles from the village of Threlkeld and six miles from the market town of Keswick.  Scales Farm is situated on the slip road just off the A66 next to the White Horse Inn.  Approximately 11 miles from Junction 40 of the M6.

Ideal location for Walking and touring.
The White Horse Inn is situated next door and enjoys an enviable reputation.

There are other Inns and Restaurants within 5 minutes drive offering a variety of good food.
Keswick Golf club is a mile away.

Rookin House Activity Centre is just a few minutes drive, where Horse riding, and Go Karting can be enjoyed amongst other activities.

Travel Info:

A car is really needed to be able to see all the wonderful sights of the Lake District.  Although there is a very good bus service which passes our door every half hour during the peak season.
