Mount Cottage - 4 star - with its own garage and tiny walled garden has recently been converted from a small 17th century barn retaining much of its original character. It is cosy and warm throughout with all modern fittings and a well equipped kitchen. There is a bathroom/WC with over-bath power shower and a separate second WC. Bishops Castle, an intriguing market town, has a variety of good shops, including those selling antiques and second hand books. A variety of good food is on offer and two of the pubs, the Three Tuns and the Six Bells have their own breweries and serve traditional beers. The surrounding countryside is wonderfully unspoilt with little traffic. Both Offa's Dyke and the Shropshire Way run close to Bishops Castle and there are plenty of places to walk dogs with no sheep. |

There are many interesting places to visit nearby - Ironbridge, Shrewsbury and Ludlow being the most famous, but there are lots of beautiful tiny villages. There are the Marches castles and endless high hills and valleys to explore - the Long Mynd and the Stiperstones and the Iron Age Fort of Bury Ditches to name but a few.
